Yvonne's Dance Bio

Yvonne Hernandez is a Dance artist, teacher, choreographer, and current company member of Jennifer Archibald’s Arch Dance Company. She began performing with Arch Dance Company as a company member in 2010 at various venues and festivals. In this time, she has had the honor to assist Jennifer Archibald, company Founder/Artistic Director, as Rehearsal Director. Under Ms. Archibald’s guidance Yvonne has had opportunities to work with the students of ArchCore 40, Balletakademien Stockholm, Howard University, Columbia/Barnard University, The Fordham/Ailey Program in NYC, Cap21 NYC, Booker T Washington HS, Tulsa Ballet 2,  and others. She was also a company member of Raja Feather Kelly’s The Feath3r Theory.

 

In 2008 Yvonne began teaching at the internationally recognized Bates Dance Festival (Lewiston, ME) for the Youth Arts Program and currently continues on staff with both the Young Dancers Workshop as well as the Professional Training Program.

 

As a graduate from the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University, Yvonne began her performing career in San Diego, CA serving as Eveoke Dance Theatre’s Concert Company Dancer, Resident Choreographer, Apprentice Company Co-Director, Youth Performing Group Director and Senior Teaching Artist.  While in San Diego Yvonne set numerous works for the The San Diego Symphony, Cal State San Marcos, and worked collaboratively with local companies. She also helped to curate the curriculum for the Conservatory at Canyon Crest Academy alongside Tracy Yates (Former Director).

Concurrently, Ms. Hernandez is a 500hr RYT Certified Vinyasa and Hot Yoga Instructor from Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. She takes on private clients as a Certified IIN Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Yvonne worked as a Strength, Conditioning, Mobility and Flexibility coach for top athletes at Hammer Athletics (under the tutelage of Steve Gourlay) and at Aviators Sports & Events Center in Brooklyn, NY.
